Review: Hard Time

Hard Time
Hard Time by Cara McKenna

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I saw this book in Netgalley and decide to request as soon as I read that this is a prison romance.

Actually it is not a prison romance per se. It is a love at first sight story that the hero and heroine happened to meet in prison while the hero is doing time there.

I could not understand when I read about a woman fell in love with a convict. It is kind of gross. How can you tell that you love someone when you are not really have time to know him. So I got into this book with skepticism.

I also have read Cara McKenna's books and know that she wrote hot story with very good characters. This book is also have both elements and more than that I think this one is very sweet. I love the way the story go. The romance between Annie and Eric is believable. As mentioned, this is a love a first sight story. You cannot choose a person you would fell in love with. And the heroine, Annie cannot either. Even when she knew that it was wrong but the reluctant relationship already developed and she cannot stop herself. The correspondence between them is very erotic and romantic (more romantic for me). For the first time in long year, Annie woke up and feel again after a bad breakup in the past.

However the intimate of the letter they exchanged, everything was still a dream. Eric was someone safe, behind the bar and could not hurt her. Everything was fine until Eric got parole. And now Annie had to make decision if she wanted to continue the relationship.

What I love most about this book is that it makes me believe in the unbelievable. I still think a woman who fell in love with a convict is a fool and hopeless but I believe in Annie and Eric's story. The author convinces me that it is possible, that the love is real.
